Present: attendees at the Fall Banquet (over 70 in attendance, representing a quorum)
Vice President Theresa Tweet called the meeting to order at 6:45 PM.
Theresa announced that 2 people are leaving the Board of Directors as their terms will expire at the end of 2016 – Mark Ryan and Rebecca Galkiewicz. She introduced Deborah Nafziger as a candidate for the Board of Directors.
The GSM members present elected Deborah unanimously to the Board.
Dan Japuntich gave a report from the State Fair Committee. All volunteer slots (6 per day) were filled. Many people stopped at the booth and asked questions and many brochures were distributed.
Ed Steffner requested members to help spread the word by placing GSM Lecture Series brochures at selected libraries.
Becky Galkiewicz reported that about half of the 60 markers were visited during the summer. This helps with improvements to the Marker web page.
Steve Erickson summarized some of the highlights of the 2016-2017 lecture series.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM. Members stayed to hear a lecture given by Kate Clover on “The Wondrous World of Carbonate Sands.”
